Well, technically it’s not a day late since it really is what I ate Wednesday. Yesterday was a yummy day of pretty typical eats for me, so since I haven’t linked up for WIAW in for-e-ver (name that movie), here ya have it! Head on over to the party to check out other bloggers’ days of grub. Thank you Jenn for hosting!
Breakfast
I’ve been on a huge cottage cheese kick lately. Maybe because when I lived alone I hardly ever remembered to buy it, but my mom buys it often so it’s always on hand. For breakfast I had a whole wheat sandwich thin, half sweet half savory. The sweet half is topped with cottage cheese mixed with vanilla nunaturals sweetener, and then topped with cinnamon after the picture. The savory half is cottage cheese with a lot of lemon pepper. I love cottage cheese with lemon pepper. Leftover cheez on the side.
Lunch
I was supposed to go to lunch with a friend yesterday, but last minute she wasn’t able to go…so I was left to my own devices at home (poor me, I know). I ended up eating a Trader Joe’s premade salad that I saw in the fridge and realized it wasn’t going to live much longer. Buckwheat noodles (I had never had these until trying this salad, and I now love them), shredded chicken, a bunch of veggies, mixed greens, an ahhhhmazing sesame ginger dressing, and topped with sriracha sauce. It was spicy and perfect. I ate this while studying for one of my teacher tests (this weekend!) at the kitchen counter.
Lunch Dessert
I’m a huge fan of eating dessert after lunch, and a lot of times it keeps me full til dinner without a snack….okay not really. But still I like to finish my meals with something sweet. My lunch desserts usually involve greek yogurt.
I eat a greek yogurt bowl at least once a day, sometimes twice. I love mixing it with almond or coconut milk to make it runnier (I don’t like it really thick) and then adding things to it. This lunch dessert was Chobani pear yogurt mixed with a little milk + cinnamon and topped with a banana chocolate chip vitatop. Yum.Yum.Yum. I am a very loyal customer of both Chobani and Vitatop.
Snack
A few hours later I had a cookie dough Quest bar (not my fave flavor, but I love every single one of these bars and never want another kind of protein bar). All the rave right now for Quest bars is well deserved, and if you haven’t tried one…I suggest you do ASAP. Also a bag of baby carrots.
Dinner
For dinner last night I picked up burritos at my favorite local burrito place (I even like it more than Chipotle, which says a lot for this girl), High Tech Burrito. My mom went to a party last night and ate there, so I got my dad a chicken burrito and me a spicy cajun prawn one. What I love about High Tech is that they have unique options, rather than the standard burrito fillers. The spicy cajun prawn burrito has shrimp sautéed with onions and garlic in a spicy cajun sauce, spanish rice, black beans, lettuce and sour cream. The sauce is the best part of it fasho. If you are ever in the bay area, I highly recommend you find a High Tech and get yourself a really fabulous burrito.
I also ate an apple before I went to bed because I wanted something sweet but wasn’t feelin an actual dessert (and I hadn’t had any fruit all day). Pretty standard day of eating for me…we get take out meals more than I care to admit and also go out to eat a lot, but we love it so why not? It’s also quite obvious that I am not one of those people who puts thought into each of my meals as in “am I getting the proper ratio of carbs/fat/protein” and all that. I actually never think about that, but usually notice that certain things make me stay full longer or make me feel more energized, and try to remember that for the future.
What is your go-to burrito? Jumped on the Quest Bar train yet? My favorite flavors are cinnamon roll, banana nut muffin, and apple pie.
PS – I updated my About Me page today to reflect my current self a little better than when I first started this blog!
